Starry Starry Night

I remember one time when we were out West we didn't plan ahead and every campground was full so we drove around for hours on washed out treacherous windy roads.

I remember we ate bad hot dogs, drank warm tequila and lemonade, and slept in the van anyway. Again.

I remember the view of the amazing amazing sky made it all worth it!!!

A Tent!

Finally a campground at Yellowstone. Woo Hoo! The stars are not quite as beautiful, but the flush toilets and the much needed showers are truly amazing. The views have been breath taking. It also gets very cold at night. I ended up sleeping in the car again to keep warm. Maybe tomorrow I will be the first to sleep so I can snag the warm sleeping bag.

Ghost Town

We made a stop in a small town in Utah. It was so much fun. We chased chickens, looked at the strange horses and stopped in the saloon for a game of checkers and a drink. We decided not to stay overnight though due to the poor conditions.

Got Lost

So after we got pulled over we made a wrong turn and got lost. No cell phone reception and we lost our ability to read map (thanks Garmin). Eventually we did make it back to the highway. I liked to give a big shout out to Jay's manure company for their fabulous directions! Fourtunaltly their directions were not as full of shit as their truck was.

The Blow Out

Saw some beautiful sights at the Badlands today. It was so hot Kurt had a blow out on his hoppy. Arrg!

It took forever for a tow truck to come. We finally made it to Denny’s auto and in no time we were fixed and back on the road.

Getting Pulled Over In South Dakota

We got pulled over yesterday by one of South Dakota's finest. In all fairness we were speeding and Kurt was weaving a bit (I think he might have been hitting the bottle).

Finally internet access

We had been driving all night in the pouring rain when it finally cleared it looked like a swarm of aliens had landed across the countryside. We were somewhere in Minnesota. There were hundreds of red flashing lights. We realized they were hundreds of windmills. Anyone know where we were? It was dark, but a great opportunity to do some painting with light!
I did not make any images. I was afraid of the aliens!

And so it begins........

Our trip has officially started. I will try to blog daily, but you know it can be in the middle of nowhere. I hope we don't get a flat!
